Nu-Calgon 4171-75 Evap Foam Description:
A high-performance, heavy-duty detergent with a no-rinse solution that is conveniently packaged in an 18-ounce aerosol can.
Evap Foam is appropriate for use on most coils but is especially well suited for use on cooling or evaporator coils because it is made with specific surfactants and alkaline cleanser.
This coil cleaner is safe to use on metals and other materials, and it swiftly and easily liquefies dirt, grease, oil, and other residues.
It is also strengthened with corrosion inhibitors. On condensate-producing coils, the product’s quick-breaking, adhering foam totally self-rinses.
How to use:
Spray some Evap Foam on the coil, and the emulsified material will be washed off the coil by the condensate that is formed during cooling.
For use as a coil cleaning in and around locations used for food processing, the aerosol product has NSF registration. After usage, a lovely lemon aroma aids in deodorizing the area.

Greases and oils
- Grease is chosen by temperature range and thickener base. Do not top one base up with another — incompatible greases can break down together. MOLYKOTE 44 is a medium-to-high temperature grease; Molykote separator spray stops parts and moulds sticking.
- Gear and turbine oils are specified by ISO viscosity grade (ISO VG, viscosity at 40 °C), so the number in the name matters more than the brand: Caltex Meropa 680 is an ISO VG 680 heavy-duty enclosed-gear oil; AeroShell Turbine Oil 560 is a turbine lubricant.
WD-40
WD-40 multi-use spray displaces moisture, frees stuck and rusted parts, and gives light lubrication and corrosion protection. For loaded bearings and gears that need lasting lubrication, use the specified grease or oil. WD-40 rust remover removes existing rust; the anti-corrosion demoisturant treatment protects afterwards.

Nu-Calgon Evap Foam is a no-rinse evaporator coil cleaner for air-conditioning maintenance, and Tempil Bloxide is a weldable primer that protects steel between fabrication and welding.

Frequently asked questions
Which Loctite should I use?
222 (purple, low strength) for small screws you will remove by hand, 242 or 243 (blue, medium) for general nuts and bolts, and 271 (red, high) only for permanent assemblies — it needs heat to undo.
Is WD-40 a lubricant?
It is a multi-use product: it displaces moisture, loosens rusted parts and gives light lubrication and protection. For bearings and gears under load, use the grease or oil the equipment specifies.
What does ISO 680 mean on gear oil?
It is the ISO viscosity grade — the oil's viscosity at 40 °C. ISO VG 680 is a heavy grade for enclosed industrial gears. Use the grade the gearbox maker specifies.
Can I mix different greases?
Not without checking compatibility. Greases with different thickener bases can soften or separate when mixed; clean out the old grease when changing type.
