First aid kits

The Saudi Labor Law requires first-aid supplies at the workplace. Size the kit to the number of people it serves and the risk of the work, and keep one in every vehicle that carries crews. A widely used reference for contents is ANSI Z308.1: Class A kits cover common workplace injuries, Class B kits hold more and larger supplies for bigger or higher-risk workplaces.

  • 36-unit first aid kit with BBP and CPR — adds bloodborne-pathogen protection and a CPR barrier for sites where first aiders may deal with bleeding.
  • Fabric vehicle first aid kit — rated for up to 30 people, for buses and crew vehicles.
  • General first aid kits for offices and small workshops.

Check kits monthly and after every use, and replace anything used or out of date.

Eyewash stations and emergency showers

Wherever workers handle chemicals, batteries or dust that can get into the eyes, an eyewash must be close and ready. The ANSI Z358.1 standard, widely used on industrial sites, sets the main points:

  • Flush for 15 minutes without stopping.
  • Tepid water — in Saudi summers a tank standing in the sun can get too hot to use, so place gravity units in the shade or indoors.
  • Within 10 seconds' reach of the hazard, on the same level, with nothing in the way.
  • Activate plumbed units weekly to flush the line; refill or treat gravity-fed tanks as the manufacturer directs.

Frequently asked questions

Is a first aid kit required at work in Saudi Arabia?

Yes. The Saudi Labor Law requires employers to provide first-aid supplies at the workplace. Size the kits to the number of workers and the risks of the work.

How long should eyes be flushed after a chemical splash?

For 15 minutes without stopping, under the ANSI Z358.1 standard, then get medical attention.

How close should an eyewash station be?

Within about 10 seconds' walk of the hazard, on the same level and with a clear path.

Do gravity-fed eyewash stations need maintenance?

Yes. Inspect them regularly and refill or treat the water as the manufacturer directs, and keep them out of direct sun so the water stays tepid.

Can you supply first aid kits for a fleet of vehicles?

Yes. Send the number of vehicles and the crew size and we quote the kits together.
