Three Herman Miller task chairs, all of them ergonomic seating rather than desking: the Aeron in Size B and in Size C graphite, and the Embody. The Aeron is the pellicle-suspension chair — a woven seat and back in place of foam, with the PostureFit sacral support that made it the reference office chair. The Embody takes a different route: a pixelated support layer and a back built to follow the spine as you move rather than hold it in one position.

Two things decide this purchase. Size comes first, because an Aeron in the wrong size cannot be adjusted into the right one — Size B suits most adults and Size C is the large frame. Then usage: a chair occupied eight hours a day at an assigned desk is a different specification from one at a shared hot desk, and the difference shows in the warranty and in how far the arms, tilt and seat depth adjust.
