SS316 stainless steel grating for floors, walkways and platforms
Grade 316 stainless steel grating is the choice where carbon-steel or galvanised grating would rust: desalination and water treatment plants, petrochemical and chemical units, food and pharmaceutical production, jetties, marine decks and wastewater channels. The molybdenum in 316 gives it better resistance to chlorides and salt water than grade 304.
The grating on this page
- SS316 grating with 1-1/2″ × 1/8″ bearing bars at 1-3/16″ centres (19-SGSS-4), panels 36″ wide × 24′ long.
- SS316 grating with 1″ × 3/16″ bearing bars at 1-3/16″ centres (19-SGSS-4), panels 36″ wide × 24′ long.
- SS316 saddle clips for fixing.
- Swaged construction, mill finish, smooth top.
Need another bar size, a serrated (anti-slip) top or panels cut to your layout? Put it in the request and our team will confirm what can be supplied.
Welded, swaged or press-locked?
- Welded — bearing bars and cross bars are forge-welded; the strongest joint, common on industrial platforms.
- Swaged — cross rods are pressed into the bearing bars; clean joints with no weld discolouration, which suits stainless steel.
- Press-locked — bars are slotted and pressed together under high pressure; a flat, neat look for architectural and food-plant floors.

Questions buyers ask
What is the difference between SS316 and SS304 grating?
Both are austenitic stainless steels. 316 adds molybdenum, which makes it more resistant to pitting from chlorides — salt water, seawater spray and many chemicals. For coastal sites, desalination and chemical plants, 316 is the safer choice; 304 is common indoors and in dry areas.
Should I choose a smooth or serrated top?
Serrated bars grip better where the floor gets wet, oily or icy, such as process areas, ramps and marine decks. Smooth tops are easier to clean and suit dry walkways and food areas.
Can you quote grating cut to my drawing?
Yes, send the drawing or BOQ with your request and we come back with what can be supplied and a price.
